This guy rocks!! There are close to bringing video games into mainstream classrooms! Also pay attention to his presentation. Very few words, lots of pics and he's the presentation. Oh, and if you didn't notice, he's using Prezi, not PowerPoint!!

Steve Jobs Finally Reveals Where The Name “Apple” Came From

Although everyone knows that Apple Computer was named after the namesake fruit, Steve Jobs has never talked about where the name came from — until now (AFAIK).
It was named during one of his fruitarian diets, Walter Isaacson’s new biography of Jobs reveals.
On the naming of Apple, he said he was “on one of my fruitarian diets.” He said he had just come back from an apple farm, and thought the name sounded “fun, spirited and not intimidating.”

The Scandal

“The scandal of education is that every time you teach something you deprive a child of the pleasure and benefit of discovery.” - Papert

The Experience of TRUTH Through Art

The Experience of TRUTH through Art
Love can be lost and love can be found again!

Nietzsche said, “…the human being longs for wholeness.” “I wonder and ask how does one achieve this. Is it through the beauty of an object, of a person, through love or through “other” means? In our instructions for this assignment it states that, “Art can do this because it gives us this understanding by means of images rather than through concepts and arguments.”
The object of art that I have chosen is the novel and movie the Notebook by Nicholas Sparks. I chose the Notebook because it is a book that I have read and a movie I have watched which evoked great emotion in me in every page and scene. I don’t think I have ever cried as much while reading a book as I did with this particular novel. This novel resonates with me because it speaks of TRUE LOVE that through the toughest of times was unbreakable.
Seeing a person and being physically attracted to them. Seeing a person and something about that person sparks an interest. Seeing a person and thinking, that this is a person that I can spend the rest of my life with are all extraordinary moments. Falling in love is something that no one ever forgets. It is one of the greatest moments of our lives. A moment that leads to a commitment of a lifetime of love. In the movie, Noah says to Ali,
‎"...the best kind of love is the kind that awakens the soul and makes us reach for more. A love that plants the fire in our hearts and brings a peace to our minds. That's what you've given me and that's what I hope to give to you forever.”

And then he goes on to say,

"...it's not going to be easy, it's going to be really hard and we're going to have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you, I want all of you forever, you and me every day."

I think anyone who has ever been in love understands these quotes.

If I am to think of the elusiveness of this novel and movie, it might be that people in our lives, particularly family have a great impact on the choices we make in our lives and one of those choices often can be who to love and spend the rest of your life with. Noah says, "...stop thinking about what everyone else wants, think about what you want."
I know these moments. I have lived through them and I know that love and the person you love is worth waiting for and worth fighting for. If I were to interpret the movie, and pick a theme, it might be, “To never give up on the one you love no matter what”.  The original commitment, spark and attraction can be found again. I’ll close this with a quote from Walt Whitman and from the movie. “I know you feel lost now, but don't worry. Nothing is ever lost, nor can be lost. The body sluggish, aged, cold, the embers left from earlier fires shall duly flame again."
Finally, Nietzsche said, “…we must all die alone…”, but Noah and Ali showed Nietzsche that he was wrong!

Respectfully and from the heart,

Brad
